Hot Dog Pizza

This hot dog pizza is one of my most favorite styles of decadent and delicious pizza. It makes the most versatile choice of pizza, where you get to choose the toppings for pizza.

Pizza Crust

  • 120 g high-gluten flour In this case, you can use the pizza flour, the all-purpose flour, or sometimes even the bread flour.
  • 72 ml water
  • 2 g yeast
  • 2 g salt
  • 4 g sugar
  • 10 ml olive oil

 Pizza Toppings:

  • 2 shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 large slices of bacon
  • 4 thin hot dog
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Mozzarella (pre-shredded or sliced fresh whole mozzarella)

  • Take your clean bowl and set in your dough ingredients that include the high gluten flour, water, yeast, sugar, salt, and olive oil. If you aren't using a machine, this is the time to start mixing it gently. But of course, when you have a stand machine, then you need to use the dough hook to use in the mixing process.
  • Next, then you should start to knead the dough. Keep on kneading the dough until the surface of the dough is smooth and elastic. It will be effortless to know when the dough is ready as it stops to stick on your hands.
  • Allow the dough to rise. Always allow the dough to rise and allow it to double in size. This can take anything from 45-60 minutes. Remember, some people like to let the dough rest for up to 24 hours, which is just as good. The more time you let it rest for, the more it matures and even develops more in flavors.
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius
  • Sprinkle some flour on the chopping board, take out the raised dough to breathe a little before you begin working on it. Finally, start to roll it into a crust that is a circle more significant than the pizza pan.
  • Whether you will use the baking tray or the stone, this is the time to set your pie crust on. Go on to put the pie crust in the baking tray. Follow through by putting on some hot dog around the edges.
  • To make the lace for your pizza, you must wrap the pieces with the dough. So then, once you add the hot dog, you should pinch the dough joint tightly. Remember in the steps above then we said you should stretch or roll the dough to a larger size, and this is why we wanted you to find the parts you can pinch.
Use a knife to slice the wrapped hot dog into several sections. Also, twist each section by 90 degrees so that the hot dog's cross-section faces upwards to form lace. Use a fork to pierce some small holes on the surface of the crust.
  • Spread some pizza sauce on the surface of the crust (as much or as little as you'd like. If you like it saucy, then, by all means, make it saucy!).
  • Arrange the shiitake mushroom slices and bacon evenly (the shiitake mushrooms are fried to prevent water from the mushrooms when they are roasted, and the bacon is fried in advance to make it more fragrant and taste better).
Whenever you are making any pizza, then it's your call to make sure you don't have the pizza become soggy. This is also why you want to eliminate the excess water by cooking the mushroom slightly before the whole process.
  • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella on the surface. Again this will depend mainly on the amount of cheese you like to have.
  • Place the pizza on the middle rack of the oven and bake at 200°C (400°F) for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the other half of the mozzarella cheese on the surface; continue to bake for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melty and the crust is a nice golden brown, and take it out after baking.
